Meet the team
The staff at Barwick Day Nursery are well qualified and very experienced. We leave nothing to chance when it comes to the care, education and safety of your children. Childcare qualifications range from level 3 certificates to degree level and postgraduate qualifications. All staff are qualified in first aid and regularly attend safeguarding training. As we prepare home-cooked meals on the premises, food hygiene certificates are also a must. We also have staff who are qualified in ‘forest school’, gymnastics, dance and lots more. Our staff have a range of experiences and specialisms, ensuring that your child is well looked after and will be introduced to a range of developmental and educational activities.
Lisa is the owner of Barwick Day Nursery. She is committed to providing high-quality childcare in a unique setting where each individual child is nurtured in a homely environment. Lisa has a vision for the nursery to be the best it can possibly be and continually ensures that the most up-to-date, relevant practice is implemented in her nursery. She introduced ‘forest school’ - a must - in this beautiful village location.
Karen is the Manager of Barwick Day Nursery. She has worked in Early Years education for over thirty years and been a senior leader and an assistant headteacher. She has postgraduate qualifications and she has worked in a variety of state-owned and privately-owned Early Years settings. She has established new childcare facilities including a holiday club and Early Years departments within schools. Karen enjoys promoting learning through play, and she has a particular interest in providing learning opportunities through the media of music to encourage knowledge of rhythm, time, pattern and mathematics.
Abbie works in the Baby Room at Barwick Day Nursery having over six years of experience working with babies. She has worked with other age groups within her previous setting but enjoys working with babies because of the joy that they bring, and the huge progress they make in a short space of time. Abbie believes that a home-from-home environment like Barwick Day nursery gives her the opportunity to provide outstanding learning experiences, each and every day. Abbie likes to encourage the children to learn by expressing themselves as individuals through play and through making music.
Emma has worked in childcare for ten years. She works in the Pre-School room with the three-year-olds and she enjoys preparing the children for their next adventure as they progress to their first year of compulsory school education. Emma has leadership experience in Early Years settings and she enjoys working at Barwick Day Nursery because working with a smaller number of children enables the nursery workers to really get to know the children and promote their next learning steps in an individualised, bespoke way. Emma likes to work with children on their phonics to prepare them for reading and writing, once they start school.
Lauren is the Room Leader for the two-year-old room. She has worked in childcare for six years and has a degree in Leading Childrens’ Learning and Development. She has worked with children of a variety of ages but especially adores promoting the learning of two and three-year-old children. She enjoys encouraging children to learn through creative, messy play and through the expressive arts. She believes in allowing children to use their senses to explore their environments. Lauren is interested in Special Educational Needs and she is also keen to promote learning in the outside environment via ‘forest school’ activities.
